McFarlane Toys is set to release a series of UFC collectibles capturing the intensity of the octagon. Dive into the details of this exciting collaboration and discover why some collectors might be left wanting more.
Big news from McFarlane Toys and UFC as they're teaming up to drop a line of collectibles that will cover both physical and digital spaces. But here’s the catch: the figures are posed, not articulated. For collectors like me who prefers articulation in their figures, this detail might be a bit of a letdown.
Todd McFarlane is stoked about the partnership, seeing it as a cool way to bring UFC's action-packed scenes into the world of collectibles. The plan is to churn out 6-inch figures that highlight some of the UFC’s top athletes and iconic moments. While the idea of capturing legendary UFC moments like Conor McGregor’s swift knockout of Jose Aldo or the gruelling showdown between Big Foot Silva and Mark Hunt sounds amazing, knowing that these figures will be static, almost statue-like, cools my excitement a bit.
Tracey Bleczinski from UFC is all in, praising McFarlane Toys for their craftsmanship. It’s clear they’re confident that fans will dig these figures. And honestly, the prospect of seeing some of UFC’s finest moments immortalized in this way is pretty cool—it's just that I wish these figures came with movable joints.
The full range is set to hit stores and online this fall. They'll be available globally, and you’ll be able to snag the digital versions at mcfarlanetoys.digital, which is great to see them continuing to expand their digital collectables (even if it's not for everyone).
All in all, while I’m a bit bummed about the lack of articulation, the concept of freezing those epic UFC moments in time is undeniably cool. Let's hope they really nail those iconic moments.
