Pre-Orders For Marvel's Spider-Man 2 On PS5, Including Collector's Edition, Live Now

Insomniac Games launched pre-orders for the eagerly awaited Marvel's Spider-Man 2 on Friday June 16, 2023 and including the much-anticipated collector's edition. Crafted from scratch and exclusively for the PlayStation 5, this title is set to offer enhanced visuals, superior audio, and faster web-swinging action.

Pre-orders started at 10 am local time (USA 10 am EDT / 7 am PDT). You can place your pre-orders through all participating retailers, the PlayStation Store, and PlayStation Direct. The standard edition of Marvel's Spider-Man 2 will be made available at a retail price of $69.99 (£69.99/€79.99/¥8,980 MSRP).

Pre-Order Bonus

Naturally, each pre-order is accompanied by digital bonuses. These incentives include 3 skill points, a web grabber gadget, along with two early unlock suits for both Peter and Miles, each boasting three colour variations.

Deluxe Edition

There is also a digital deluxe edition of the game, priced at $79.99 (£79.99/ €89.99/ ¥9,980 MSRP), complete with an additional 2 skill points, photo mode frames/stickers and 10 unique suits (5 each for Peter and Miles).

Collectors Edition

The star attraction is undoubtedly the collector's edition, albeit with a frustrating exclusion - the absence of a physical copy of the game. What you receive instead is a voucher for the digital deluxe edition, complemented by a steel book display case, not forgetting the bonus content for those who pre-order. The heart and soul of the collector's edition is the magnificent 19-inch statue, displaying both Peter and Miles in their thrilling combat against Venom.

It's quite puzzling that a steel bookcase has been provided, yet there's no physical game to place within it. Collectors will also shirk at the lack of tactility with a digital copy, marking it as a bizarre omission.

However, the high point is the substantial 19" statue portraying the dynamic battle between Venom, Peter, and Miles. I am particularly fond of collector's editions that feature larger-than-life statues. They make a collector's edition truly special and are undeniably superior to a simple pin set (Zelda, Tears Of The Kingdom, we're casting a sideways glance in your direction).

Some might hesitate at the cost of $229.99 (£219.99/ €249.99/ ¥31,980 MSRP), but in my view, the extra $150 is a justifiable expense for the statue. This sentiment, however, hinges on your ability to overlook the omission of a physical copy of the game!

The weighty cost might make your bank account feel like it’s been in a skirmish with Venom himself, but remember, nothing declares 'superfan' quite like a towering statue in your room. As for the missing physical copy of the game?

Well, at least it's not Alan Wake levels of digital stupidity.
